Early Life and Hiding

Annelies Marie Anne Frank, born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, gained fame for her diary chronicling her life during World War II. When the Nazis invaded the Netherlands in 1942, Anne and her family went into hiding in the Secret Annex, a hidden area in her father's office building.

Diary and Discovery

During her time in hiding, Anne kept a diary in which she recorded her experiences, thoughts, and observations. The diary, known as "The Diary of a Young Girl," became a poignant and powerful testament to the horrors of the Holocaust. In August 1944, the family was discovered and Anne was taken to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

Death and Legacy

Anne Frank died in Bergen-Belsen in February or March 1945, just weeks before the camp was liberated. Her diary was published in 1947 and has since become one of the most widely read books in history, translated into over 60 languages. It serves as a reminder of the atrocities committed during the Holocaust and inspires readers worldwide with its message of courage and resilience.
