Bills Elevate Former Syracuse Football Standout For Dolphins Thursday Night Football Game

Bills elevate former Syracuse football standout for Dolphins Thursday Night Football game

Former Syracuse standout elevated to the active roster

The Buffalo Bills have elevated offensive tackle Cody Conway from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of their Thursday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins.

Conway, who played collegiately at Syracuse, was signed to the Bills' practice squad in October. He has appeared in one game for the Bills this season, playing on special teams in their Week 10 win over the Cleveland Browns.

With the Bills dealing with injuries along the offensive line, Conway could be in line for a more significant role on Thursday night. Starting left tackle Dion Dawkins is questionable to play with a shoulder injury, and backup tackle David Quessenberry is also dealing with an injury.

Conway's path to the NFL

Conway was a four-year starter at Syracuse, earning All-ACC honors twice. He was signed by the Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

Conway has spent most of the season on the Bills' practice squad, but he has impressed the coaching staff with his work ethic and versatility. He can play both tackle and guard, and he has also worked on special teams.

With the Bills facing a short week of preparation for their game against the Dolphins, Conway's elevation to the active roster gives them some added depth and flexibility along the offensive line.

Bills-Dolphins preview

The Bills and Dolphins are both 7-3 this season, and the winner of Thursday night's game will take a big step towards winning the AFC East.

The Bills have won four straight games, while the Dolphins have lost two of their last three. However, the Dolphins have a strong defense that has forced 14 turnovers this season, which is tied for the most in the NFL.

The Bills are led by quarterback Josh Allen, who is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL. Allen has thrown for 2,623 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, and he has also rushed for 522 yards and five touchdowns.

The Dolphins are led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who is having a breakout season. Tagovailoa has thrown for 2,548 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, and he has also rushed for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bills-Dolphins game is scheduled to start at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 17. The game will be televised on Amazon Prime Video.
