Traffic Congestion Expected on Tybee Island During Holiday Weekend

Plan for Delays, Obey Traffic Laws

As Labor Day weekend approaches, the Tybee Island Police Department reminds visitors and residents alike to expect traffic congestion and lane closures on the island.

The department anticipates heavy traffic volume, particularly on Friday, September 1st, and Saturday, September 2nd.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend, police urge motorists to plan for potential delays and obey all traffic laws.

Lane Closures Announced

In addition to increased traffic, the following lane closures will be in effect:

  • Butler Avenue: Closed between Tybrisa Street and 1st Street from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 2nd, for the Tybee Island Labor Day Festival.
  • Tybrisa Street: Closed between Butler Avenue and Strand Avenue from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 2nd, for the Tybee Island Labor Day Festival.
  • Strand Avenue: Closed between Savannah Beach Boulevard and Tybrisa Street from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Monday, September 4th, for the Tybee Island Labor Day Fireworks Show.
